Well, you have to take into account that volume E ends off around the moment where volume 10 leaves off. In volume 10 the last chapter is Hachiman talking to Haruno and Haruno saying that what Yukino feels isn't trust but something far more sinister. During the entirety of Volume 11, Hachiman is trying to shake off this feeling of unease/trying to hide his and Yukino's feelings beneath the snow, until Yui makes Yukino decide what to chose: them staying together as friends and Yukino giving up on her feelings for Hachiman or Yukino going for Hachiman, with the possibilty that the group falls apart. Hachiman intervenes and says that he doesn't care about the circumstances, he wants something genuine. In other words, after an entire volume of trying to hide it, in this timeline he is willing to take the step with Yukino.
Now I imagine that in Volume R something is going to be revealed, that will make Hachiman not want to take the step for Yui. There they'll simply stay as friends, doing the same thing Hayato's group is doing.
