I really like cgdct, and I also really like yuri undertones, but yuyushiki just annoyed me. The gags consistently sucked, which isn't usually that big of a deal but the bgm really tried to play up the comedy, and when someone's being retarded so clearly specifically for laffs but fails it feels sad or even cringey instead, which is not how I want to be feeling when watching my cgdct. The char design sometimes pisses me off too, it sometimes looks okay, but other times you get the really high eyes and really low mouth and the massive expanse of nothing that looks weird as hell. The expressions are sometimes overblown for what the situation calls for. I also don't like Rumi Ookubo's performance at all, it felt really affected and just generally phony to me, and I feel similarly about Taneda Risa. Yui's VA was pretty mediocre, passable tsukkomi I guess?
To tell you the truth, I wish I understood better why I'm so turned off by Yuyushiki. On paper it's something I would predict I would really like, but when I watch it, I just get pissed off.

Weird, usually when I hear praise for Yuyushiki it's that, at its best, the dialogue and comedy seems to exist only for the characters' own amusement. No ulterior motive in the writing, not trying to get a laugh out of the audience. Completely and utterly inane, but in the most positive way. I think this is one of the better styles of comedy for the genre, and Yuyushiki is probably the best I've seen it done. One of the best comedies of the last few years.

literally any emotion invoking scene, Renge's new friend and bicycling are one of the best episodes in the entire medium
it has style, a strong calming rural atmosphere, something every other show in the same setting lack
it's all thanks to strong direction from things like pacing, visuals, sound, music, to more subtle things like scene transitions, eyecatches, unusual comedy and dialog delivery with no out of place sound effects or heavily exaggerated reactions which are all done in a way to be soothing and befitting the atmosphere, NNB is unique and so highly praised because it does those things differently, successfully, and ultimately better
this is why being atmospheric is huge by itself as most shows aren't since it requires additional effort to realize someone's vision, they could've gone with your usual uninspired by-the-numbers execution of everything like Gin no Saji or Barakamon but they didn't
NNB's comedy is also ridiculously underrated, going as far as to say that it has the best comedy in the medium, the only show that made me laugh consistently and a sole exception to Nips' shitty tsukkomi/boke style, senseless shouting, awful punchline deliveries with dumb sound effects, and literally explaining said punchlines that plagues otherwise great shows like Cromartie and DMC
NNB has none of that, for the most part
It does have some stereotypical shitty jokes(like the common gag where every character says the same sentence they're thinking as the "punchline" but all it does is explain what's happening on screen, happens early in S1 if not ep1), but they're few and far between
