I know I'm in the minority, but I preferred the sequel slightly more.
It wasn't perfect and the plot was tough to follow, but it was different, the characters were charming, and the audio-visual quality was top-fucking-notch.
It doesn't stand on its own without having seen the original, of course, so that's one thing definitely in Gunbuster's favor
