What? Vegeta wrecked Goku, broke every bone in his body. Goku was left a heap on a plateau for like 11 episodes. It took everything he, Gohan and Krillin had and they still let him escape.

That doesn't make it not a good fight. In fact, I'd argue that it's better than most Dragon Ball fights, since they tend to have no ambiguity like this and the side characters are of absolutely no use.
