Why do they keep this useless faggot?
>>
That's not Furuta
>>
Because he's a sidearm pitcher. Teams need variety or they get slaughtered.
>>
>>137200373
Because in the real world you need more than one or two pitchers.
>>
>>137201383
>has one or two other players who can and wants to play pitcher

>Learn a new pitch.
>Pitch well.
>Don't get any game time at all.
Why is being Eijun suffering. S3 please.
>>
>>137201441
Probably because Kawakami is still better than them despite his confidence drama, but I imagine Toujou would also get to pitch if the first three were taken out of commission or needed resting. Professional teams use around five starting pitchers.
>>
>>137201551
But he isn't that good they could just use furuta and MC while the new pitcher learns that way both their 2nd year are getting more play time and experience while the 1st year gains experience and learns
>>
>>137201491
This is one series I don't see the MC beating his rival.
>>
>>137201789
You serious? Furuya has no chance end game. All he's got is speed, and he's barely faster than Hongou who is far more godly in every way. Sawamura has special snowflake traits that give him a much higher ceiling.

It's more of a question of whether or not Seidou will ever win Koshien, cause muh Koshien is fucking sacred even in manga so at best they would only win during the final arc.

I don't think even among the rare baseball series where a MC does win Koshien do they do it multiple times on screen/panel in a fully featured arc instead of just skipping around epilogue like or off screen/panel.
>>
>>137201789
The only way it's gonna happen is if some kinda plot twist occurs that prevents Furuya from being able to pitch.
>>
>>137201976
>literally been spoonfed time and time again Sawamura has the highest potential out of all the Seidou pitchers
>doesn't understand Furuya won't cut it eventually

Furuya will have the most time as the ace throughout the series sure, but that's how most rival series work. Fucking Sasuke was ahead of Naruto all the way until the final arc.
>>
>>137202606
Once Naruto got sage mode he was ahead of Sasuke for a long time.

I hope Kawakami doesn't get BTFO even more when new 1st years join
>>
>>137203252
Kek, one of the new 1st years is a pitcher
>>
Yo fellow sports bros. I need more sports shows/manga to get into. It's my drug.
>>
>>137200373
He gets way too much fucking panel time for someone who's literally a filler character who plays when the plot forces Sawamura or Furuya out (which is too often). He has zero charisma and isn't entertaining to justify it, the mangaka really didn't put enough thought into his role.
>>
>>137203345
Do you like the rare actually sports anime or the "just bros broing it up heterosexually" type
>>
>>137202606
In the end Naruto and Sasuke became equals. Sawamura has potential and their talents rival each others. Didn't he say in the first episode that Furuya became his greatest rival or something?

>>
>>137204022
I would disagree, It would certainly not fit a traditional frame of sports anime and while it doesn't use muscle or endurance, it pretty much is about competing whos skill is the best.
All the training, testing and competing doesn't tickle all your sports senses?
>>
>>137204502

What do you think?
>>
>>137203252
Naruto only got ahead when Sasuke wasn't doing jack shit. He never got to show up Sasuke at all that's like overtaking someone who retired.

>>137203299
That guy is a jobber no worries just look at the fucking lanklet.

>>137203539
You're retarded if you can't see what his role in the story is when it's spoon fed to you. Just because you hate him for being a loser doesn't mean you have to act all high handed with buzzwords you don't even know.

>>137203833
Yeah, because if you haven't noticed, Furuya was actively polishing his pitching since forever, while Sawamura was a casualfag right up until Seidou. Do you realize how huge the gap in refinement is?

Sawamura is also a flaky dolt who panics easier and can't make a poker face to save his life. He's got a lot of shit stacked against him versus just having simply more potential. That's why most people in the story don't bet on him being the ace, because it's unreasonable to expect a kid who only earnestly got into baseball during high school to overtake kids who have been aiming for that spot since they were in elementary.

Chances are if he's gonna overtake Furuya for the position of ace anytime before the final arc, it will be the upcoming rematch against Narumiya since right now Mei is clearly vastly superior to Furuya.
>>
>>137204634
I don't know what to think.

>>
>>137204762
>Yeah, because if you haven't noticed, Furuya was actively polishing his pitching since forever, while Sawamura was a casualfag right up until Seidou. Do you realize how huge the gap in refinement is?
Sawamura pitching as he wanted since his childhood ended up being a foundation for his style though. Furuya was also doing the same with straights only.
>>
>>137205050
There is a world of a difference between someone intentionally building it up and someone just doing it through playing around. When both joined Seidou, Furuya threw too high because he simply can't get it in his head that he needs to calm down and that throwing harder doesn't always mean throwing faster.

On the other hand, Sawamura's body simply couldn't handle controlling his throws. Period. Not a lack of stamina, simply a lack of technique and control. That was not the case with Furuya.

I haven't read the manga, but maybe he should have done something with them. Of course, the focus should clearly be on the sports and team aspects, but I thought that you end up not really caring about most matches because you proceed so quickly between them. It's like this in the show atleast. There is almost never 10 consequetive minutes where they aren't in some game.

>Confirmed for never having played baseball at a competitive level

The worst thing you could do for your arm in sports is pitch in baseball. The human are wasn't built to apply maximum throwing force for about 60-120 repetitions.

Add in the fact that these are high-schoolers who are still developing, forcing kids to pitch is even worse.

Japan is known for being good at baseball, but their methods for learning technique and applying are behind even Mexicos.

Few examples: Japan still has their players just go off and swing the bat. (Happens regularly inm the anime). This has been proven to do at its best, barely anything, and at it's worst it reinforces bad swinging habits. But back in the beginnings of baseball in Japan they did this and because it's Japan, tradition >practicality.

I planned on listing more things but I'm sick of typing. For reference I'm a sports physical therapist.

I really hate how the author keeps pitchers for too long, just to change the state of the game. Kawakami should have been switched out immediately after that dead ball. It would have been better for both him and the team. Keeping him for that long is beyond retarded.
>>
>>137212397
He didn't have the luxury of switching Kawakami out immediately after he started slipping, now all he's got is Sawamura and Furuya for one set. He was hoping that Kawakami would recover from this and pitch for longer so he kept him out there.
>>
>>137212501
You realize how retarded you sound? He didn't have the luxury of losing 3 runs just because his pitchers might start feeling the tips of his fingers again. It is stupid. It is obviously not happening. Also it is a huge overstatement of the situation and much Furuya. Sawamura can keep on pitching for the rest of the game no problem. He has the stamina. Hell, he could pitch a whole game as long as the author doesn't decide he suddenly can't perform.

>>
>>137214013

>>
>>137213808

Pro pitchers don't have it too bad because if they play in the MLB then they have access to world class trainers, pt facilities, nutritionists, etc. but once they retire it's not so great.

They'll probably have to deal with having a sore shoulder even though they've done minimal work (shoulder hurts after cooking dinner, helping someone move, etc.) for the rest of their life. Also, depending on the types of surgery they have and whether they are successful or not, they may never be able to pitch again or do anything active without pain. That may not sound bad, but I encourage you to think about how you use your arms every day. Something as simple as bending your elbow to type on the keyboard could cause spasms and pain that require meds. I hear it from every new patient at least once, "I never knew how much I used my hands/legs/feet/etc. until I couldnt use it". Combined with the plethera of psychological problems retired athletes develop in the first few years of stopping sports, the joint pain becomes pretty bad. Prime example is that these guys made their life amazing because of their pitching arm, but after retiring that same arm causes them nothing but pain. It's not a fun situation.

How was the coach to know that Kawakami got injured from batting previously and couldn't feel his fingertips. From his perspective Kawakami just fell into a slump and could recover from it, the same way Raichi did this episode.
>>
>>137215184
Everyone knew that was a hard hit. People asked him after it happened. Miyuki even said it this episode. And the reason and if you know it very irrelevant. You just switch out before it turns into the mess it turned. Stop excusing badly written coaching.
