They literally can't think of anything else to do with their franchises than have them battle.
It doesn't help that the existing canon for each series is basically unusable trash. They got origin stories out of it and that's it, so they're desperate for more material. No series save for batman ever managed to generate a single villain that was noteworthy, memorable or interesting, so the only villain worth of sharing screentime with a superhero is another superhero.
