What is the biggest problem(s) with anime today?
>>
Being absolutely dependant on DVD/BD sales, forcing it to follow "trends", leaving no space for creativity.
Japanese (and worldwide) economy being in a really bad shape, forcing studios into the above situation and killing budgets.
The average japanese anime fan using it as escapism instead of just entertainment, forcing the entirety of the industry into certain trends.
>>
Not enough harems
>>
>>137174155
Literally nothing in your post is correct aside from the part about the Japanese and global economies.
>>
>>137173647
Unlike before, nowadays we have a lot of good anime and I don't have time and energy to watch all of them.
>>
>>137173647
Quantity over quality.

also this
>>137174155

The way the anime market functions is just all fucky.
>>
>>137173647
Not nearly enough sisters winning.

Male homosexuality, yaoi, BL, traps, fujobait, pederasty, bara, etc... also not enough yuri.

Oversaturation and prime time slots being monopolized by the same series' for the past 15-40+ years due to IPs like Conan refusing to fuck off and die already.
>>

It's shit, that's what's wrong with it.
>>

Too much moeshit
>>
>>137173647
Poor writing.
I like studios that make original stuff. Kizunaiver is gonna be great.

One Piece too

1.) Too much Moe shit

2.) Too much moe shit

3.) CGI cheap animation

4.) Not enough serious stuff anymore

>I only watch mature anime for mature individuals such as myself.
3 is on point though

If you don't like moe that's cool but wanting an entire genre to disappear because you don't like it seems immature. Besides serious stuff still far outnumbers moe, look at Anichart.

I think the thing people like that anon call "moe" is a symptom of the problems with the industry itself, not the cause.

Have you watched that scene?
He's disgusted because he's kissing a crazy bitch, one he had to seduce so so she keeps doing unethical work for him

I'm afraid I don't know what you mean. Can you elaborate.

anime is hot shit in japan and around the globe for normies nowadays

Like literally every other business?
>>
>>137178253
>Not watching the series
>>
>>137178774
No it isn't. It's quite the opposite: anime now has a negative stigma it didn't have before. In the eyes of people it went from "another nerd hobby like comics" to "degenerate media for misogynists and pedophiles".
>>
try hard teenagers posting on /a
>>
>>137178871
But nerd hobbies in general were seen as degenerate until like ten years ago.

Exactly. It's a business.
That's something people still trapped on Gurren Bebop are unable to understand.

Anime is actually in right now, i.e. vaporwave, street wear, etc.
I think it's mostly just for the "aesthetic" though

>>137178899
They're still seen as degenerate hobbies. What we're seeing now is normal, non-nerd people turning nerd hobbies into "mature" hobbies, as, mirrors of their boring real life.
That's why, for example, fanservice in anime is seeing as the devil incarnated, or bosses in videogames are considered "too videogamey".
>>
>>137178957
Not him, but unless you're in college or some already nerdy business like programming, I don't know how you'd be coming into contact with a bunch of anime watchers, at least in America.
>>
>Plenty of anime of all genres except yaoishit every season
>Shows are very consistent looking

Nothing. Anime is damn near perfect these days

What's funny is that when we actually get the type of show these people claim they want, they all ignore it. We must have had a hundred times as many threads last year complaining about moe and how there aren't any serious old school sci-fi anymore as we did about Fafner and the 2199 movies combined.

THAT WAS THE POINT OF MY POST
>>
reminder that every hobby gets incredibly cancer, once it turns mainstream

Make Anime Great Again
>>
>>137179163
The problem with Fafner was having a kinda difficult entry fee: it was the sequel of a kinda obscure 12 years old show.
>>
>>137179225
Anime has aired on TV since the very beginning. It can't get any more mainstream than that.
>>
>>137179254
That excuse works for a lot of people, but not for the people whose entire spiel is how anime used to be so much better back in the day. If they aren't monitoring the stuff they're asking for that comes out now and aren't familiar with the stuff they're asking for that came out before, then they should shut up about how there's not enough of that stuff now compared to then.
>>
>>137179291
>It can't get any more mainstream than that.
Yes, it can. You think everything on TV has Game of Thrones-tier exposure?
>>
>>137179376
Shows like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad got all of that exposure because they "clicked" with people, not the opposite.
Many quirky, high-concept TV shows failed (do someone remembers Wonderfalls or The Pretender?) because no one liked them, exposure be damned.

The only series from the 2010's that anybody will still care about by 2020 is Penguindrum

What a good thread.

Moeshit, countless shitty LN/VN adaptations, general poor quality of CG (and 2d for the most of ongoing titles)

All this and more (mentioned in the thread) is the result of poor state in industry. Studios can't spend their budget on OC/MOVIES/etc, so they are pushed to make profit by making essentially adverts for source material in anime format.
>>
>>137179796
You have zero idea how the animation industry works. Stop posting.
>>
Dunno what the financial state is like (probably shit) but what I think I've noticed is that older anime seems to have a better split between children's shows and adult shows while recently everything seems to be targeted to teens and young adults.

I want my mature shows for mature people.
>>
>>137178998
You have a valid point.

I can only add how anime and its community is somewhat alienated by masses. So its seen as degenerate by normalfags, and gives bad impression for newfags trying to get into it.
>>
>>137179796
>Moeshit

Stop saying this

>countless shitty LN/VN adaptations

I can agree with this

>general poor quality of CG (and 2d for the most of ongoing titles)

This can mostly be blamed on Japs being cheap, cutting corners to save money and generally slave driving their small teams of overworked and underpaid animators

>so they are pushed to make profit by making essentially adverts for source material in anime format.

That's what most of the classic OVA's and anime films of the 80's and 90's were.
>>
>>137179015
I stopped watching anime because of this
They know how to grab my attention and hold it
#aintnobodygottimeforthat
>>
>>137180079
Yeah, because seemingly 95% of the community talks like "kawaii XDD sempai" and won't stop squealing in public, which is why anyone would be embarrassed to be associated with anime.
