Its basically full of memes. Which given the referential nature of the series, fits in fine in my opinion. I don't know Japanese memes well enough to recognize them, but I feel like the original is probably using memes too.
The thing that bugs me a bit is their alternate nicknames. I just have a thing for disliking when I hear a name spoken differently than it's written. And it's not like the Japanese nicknames would be incomprehensible for anyone who'd want to play this kind of game in the first place.
