As time moved on, Ran only got more developed. Let me just point to the whole Tristar arc which was in the mid-30s as Ran's example. Then for most of S2 we had Aoi deal with chickening out of facing Seira for Orihime's position as Headmistress which was only resolved in the second half of the season. Aoi was one of the last idols to get her constellation dress if I remember correctly. She also got more and more professor-like throughout the entire series. Also, don't forget that Ran also had to deal with not being in the Aikatsu8 (Aoi as well) and in fact not even making the top 10 spots because she focused too much on being a model over an idol.

I'm disagreeing about you saying watered-down. Did she "lose her edge" (ha ha) over time? Yes, but in exchange she became developed and refined in other respects. We don't actually see Ran do her modeling at all other than in montages, we only see her around Ichigo and Aoi where she can be comfortable and relax, so we don't even really know how she is when she's representing Spicy Ageha. As for your other points, they made the decision to replace Masteries with new things each season to keep it fresh (Constellation, Romance, Fever appeals), and it was a correct decision on someone's part to drop multiple appeals. I think they did it because they realized they had damn awesome CG teams and that less is more when the performances themselves express more emotion than repeating the same appeals over and over. They specifically made it more difficult to do constellation and thereafter appeals to replace it.
