I watched the short film and I liked it very much.
Is the series as good or is there a drop in quality?

Drop in quality. The judging of the week cases are good, but the overarching plot is disappointing. Also the show assumes that the viewers are retards and waste a whole episode spoonfeeding you how the system works and unnecessarily explaining what happened in the first episode.
I just watched this with the gf last week. It had some decent ideas and cool symbology, but the overall story was weak and predicable. It covered really obvious themes that did not break any new ground.
Frankly, if the whole show was more like the OP I would have loved it. An afterlife bar and casino where pyschopomps had fun and interacted between ferrying souls of the dead. It would have also been more interesting if they had fleshed out the world more

It's the same, even though is way less subtle since they show you which guy is voided and which is not.
I loved it. From the very first episode the vast majority of the threads were pure shit, however.
I didn't watch it with /a/, so to speak. But every time I see it mentioned the majority of responses are negative.

Not a single episode of the series is as good as Billiards.
And there's quite a bit of melodrama/shaky worldbuilding which never gets explored too.
The mini is an 8.5/10, the series is a 6.5/10. Still good though, and the better episodes/arcs are quite alright.
The gimmicks get old, yes.
Don't listen to the memesters. It's just as good as the short.

While some would argue that it never fully resolves the threads that were formed by the world building, I honestly thought that was a good thing since it meant that it never bogged down the stories being told.
The rules were basically elaborated further to question its own system of judging and mainly served to tell little stories similar to the one seen in Billiards.
