Holy shit, what a retarded fucking clusterfuck. Such a waste of time. It felt the director had literally no clue what direction to take this movie into. It feels like he wanted to rip off Miyazaki by making a fantasy coming of age story but literally didn't know what to do with it.
>>135616521
Shinkai is awfully overrated.
>simple story of acceptance of a relative's death
>retarded fucking clusterfuck
pay attention next time, adhd boyo
>>135616521
Don't worry. He's going to make up for it with his new work.
>>135616597
I think you might be retarded
>Le attack helicopter out of nowhere xD
>>135616521
I liked the setting! Shit characters and story though.
>>135616521
fun fact
They call this hack "the next miyazaki"
>>135616761
It's an experimental stealth helicopter, orthe MCs were so much in their own little world they didn't pay attention and were surprised by the helicopter.
Shinkai is anime's biggest hack.
>>135617068
I thought the next Miyazaki was Mamoru Hosoda, although they're both shit, the only actual heir was Satoshi Kon.
>>135617117
Don't even mention Kon in the same sentence as that hack.
There will never be another Miyazaki. Only because Miyazaki was the only jap who sucked Walt Disney's cock before he died and received the Magic Semen.
>>135617117
Hosoda isn't much better.
>makes a good movie (Our War Game)
>makes the same shit again (Summer Wars)
>makes a good movie (Wolf Children)
>makes the same shit again (Boy and the Beast)
>>135617266
The only good movie he made was the one with least furry and digimon elements.
There's still younger people like Yuasa and Koike that can make great anime movies, but they'll never get the mainstream appeal that Miyazaki sadly.
>>135617321
Summer Wars is fucking trash
Everytime someone says they liked that movie i feel like they watched something completely different, noone can have that much shit taste desu
>>135617266
When will Hosoda remake Baron Omatsuri.
>>135617149
Paranoia Agent is shit
>>135618376
Everything else is god tier though.
>>135617321
Hey, fuck off, the first Digimon movie was great.
>>135616521
>he wanted to rip off Miyazaki
That's why I didn't watch it (don't care much for Ghibli), every time people talk about it I feel like I made the right choice.
>>135619341
But this isn't Ghibli, most of Ghiblis stuff is actually worth watching.
All of Makoto Shinkai's works are stunning visual masterpieces. The way he captures light and shadows is mesmerizing. His stories are thematic, and as such are to be considered along the lines of a haiku to accompany a work of art rather than pulp fiction to be simply consumed and digested. They are meant to be thought provoking rather than spoon fed mindless entertainment.
Also, it's a fact that he browses /a/ occasionally so he's one of us.
>>135620315
>Also, it's a fact that he browses /a/ occasionally so he's one of us.
Prove it if it's a fact.
>>135619653
>most of Ghiblis stuff is actually worth watching.
Does that include Ronja?
>>135620315
They are beautiful, but empty. It's like watching some nice wallpapers after one another. Just as beautiful, and there is just as much of a meaning behind them.
Yes, he wants it to be thought provoking, but this is kindergarten level shit. It's TOO DEEP FOR YOU shit. It is not thought provoking, the only thought shit provokes is that you need to flush.
It's not that he has something to say, and is looking for a way to tell it to us. He can draw, he makes anime, and he needs a plot. And he goes like "oh, I better think of something thought provoking". That's not how it works, that doesn't work.
>>135622373
>It's like watching some nice wallpapers after one another.
That's not really fair, the music is also pretty good.
Garden of Words and 5 Centimeters Per Second are his only good movies.
>>135622437
>Garden of Words is his only good movie
FTFY
>>135616670
More of his inane bullshit? Someone should teach him a new trick.
>>135617266
>Wolf Children
>good
>>135622549
>wolf children
>not good
explain without bringing up furry
ITT: a bunch of film/animation/art illiterates trying to equate their miniscule attention spans with quality. Might as well be asking you braindead weebs what you thought of the acting.
>>135622680
Barely 2-dimensional main cast, completely predictable and full of cliches.
>>135622771
>buzzwords: the post
>>135622807
>retard: the reply
>>135622928
>adhom: the fallacy
>>135622807
You can safely predict the story from the second act on. The shift in roles of Ami and Yuki is even completely telegraphed by the narration. Come, again, what was even the point of the narration? Oh, look at Hana, she smiles a lot even when she's down. Not to mention how clumsily her signature trait was introduced. Oh, the grumpy old man is actually the most helpful and he likes her.
