To be quite honest. That was more charcter driven than about ping pong, and that was the thing that made it good. In opposition to others shows which are centered around the sport itself and somehow start power leveling until they face the elites at the sport and defeat them.

I like when these threads pop up. OP just finished Ping Pong and thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. If you're looking for another anime to watch next watch Tatami Galaxy. It's the best masaaki anime in my opinion.
