They made Dean's face look pretty weird at times but they chose episodes that would actually gain something from being animated and not just random popular ones so cudos to them.

Supernatural is a huge fujo magnet. The sheer amount of yaoi-incest fanfiction between the two brothers is so completely absurd they actually had an episode making fun of said phenomena.

Every Season after 5 has been objectively bad, there's just nothing lore wise that's had the emotional impact of 5's ending.
6 was slow, 7 is pure trash, 8 gets back to some of the whimsy of the old hunting days, 9 churns up a DECENT plot, and 10 is currently airing and follows up the foundations laid out in seasons 1-5 and 9.
All in all, you can skip around, but its finally getting back to be solid - Lucifer got freed from his cage in order to fight some primordial concept of chaos that predates the universe; God's first enemy or some shit.

Spoilers incoming.Darkness is released, cage gets damaged. Lucifer manipulates Sam into thinking God wants to help him. He tells Sam that only way to defeat the Darkness is by opening the cage. Sam goes down there, gets support from Crowley's mom and talks to Lucifer. Bla bla, the restraining seal is broken and Lucy teleports Sam back into the cage. The end until the next episode airs.

GoT is more politics with a splash of fantasy thrown in, even the books always tease/hype more fantasy than is actually in the series.
The fantasy/horror genre is mostly inundated with vampire/werewolf shows which are not my cup of tea since they include a teen drama or heavy glamourous cast drama kind of package, like 90210 but with vampires!(Vampire Diaries etc)
I can't think of a show of the top of my head that is like Supernatural.
Apart from that, I enjoyed Sense8 recently that was quite good. Tokuwise, if you're willing to try it I'd suggest Garo, it has the hunting evil beings aspect down(not so much variety) but has some pretty good character stuff.
