And then, even when you do leave, you'll just transfer from one controlled environment into another. Or hey, let's say that you're self-employed. You'll quickly learn WHY those controls are in place. Your business basically can't stay afloat when everybody is being shitty. Unless you want to live as a hobo, digging through garbage cans for discarded food, your life is going to involve a set of rules that aren't dissimilar to what you experienced in school.
Also, while this is kinda irrelevant given the above, it can be surprising how many people DON'T perceive the option of leaving. People stay at the same job for 20 years, even though they're not happy there. Even when my aunt was repeatedly getting evicted from her apartments due to lack of money, she still wasn't actively searching for a new job.
What's changed compared to school is that you actually have responsibilities and ambitions now.
