It's shit.
It's a trainwreck. The sort you watch from afar, but you can't really avert your eyes from.

I rewatched it recently and I don't understand why people call it a trainwreck. It's just a really good anime.

Geass is GOAT. The show was made with the goal of being fabulous, being dramatic, doesn't really care for realism, and I think that's what make it so fun to watch.
That said, ss2 has too many retarded moments.

You basically had the creators of Code Geass stating (in Japanese, of course) like four episodes into the series that entertainment was their priority, not realism, and it really shows.

Also I always feel really sad about what happens to Shirley. Nothing goes right for her ever. Clearly best girl, although I couldn't figure out if Lelouch was in love with her or friend zoned her.I wonder what the significance of her death dialogue means, beyond allowing Lelouch to understand that anyone can be forgiven. The whole reincarnation thing seemed oddly specific and was repeated, which lends me to believe there is either cut content regarding Shirley or some other fuckery

Code Geass is a solid show with great animation and CGI. It's funny and action packed. Many of the 'Twists' got on my nerves, and I knew what the ending would be way ahead of when I should have figured out Lelouch's plan. Some of the 'feels' moments felt overdone, but I think it worked in the context of such a ridiculous anime.
The setting was also top tier.
There will never be another anime like it. Easily my most memorable anime.

I vaguely remember reading an interview where they said the reason Lelouch had no interest in sex and romance was because all of his energy was focused on revenge. Shirley was someone that Lelouch probably would've fallen in love with if he gave up on his revenge and settled completely into his civilian identity, but Lelouch didn't realize there was a less bloody path available to him until it was too late.

It wasn't that hard to predit the ending. Which is a good thing. You could even argue that Code Geass R2 with the million Zero outfits was screaming that Zero could be anyone, a symbol not limited to Lelouch, and thus foreshadowing that part of the finale.
