Nothing against "shounen" series, it's just that it took me a bit to like this series enough to read it periodically because I don't get why the start of the manga had to be so shounen-ish. Both times it was kinda a chore to read the first arcs. The first time it was a mix of cringe and shounen-like bullshit, with :re it was the jump back to this shounen-like feel to the first arcs.
I guess they did provide a good contrast to the serious parts, and allow for character development and all that, but I think it could have been done way better.
I wish it were more focused on just detective drama like with the Amon focused arcs, maybe I'm mentally wired to like serious film noir styled detective dramas with less exposition and less "powers".
As soon as I saw the faces of the quinx team I just felt like "god damn, not again". I liked them after a bit, but it was difficult to take them seriously.
