I wouldn't say it's to an extreme generic like that. It still looks very Yuru Yuri. But the old style is much better.
I just finished watching S3 and I have to say I'm kind of disappointed with how it turned out overall. The shift in tone from dynamic, character-driven comedy to iyashikei was evident by everything including animation style and BGM and didn't benefit the show at all IMO. Not that there's anything wrong with healing by itself, it just isn't what I fell in love with YrYr for and I think many anons feel the same way. It worked in the OVAs which are great for what they are, but extending this tone to the entire series was a poor decision and I honestly prefer Dogakobo repeating jokes over TYO discarding them altogether.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we got another season at all and it did have its nice moments, I'm just not entirely happy with the new studio's approach to it.

It's the manga, mate. They did have original scenes where they repeated jokes but they also added a lot that was just an extension to scenes. Like when Chinatsu kissed Akari, they added a chase. They made the Christmas dates longer, added a Valentine's Day subplot, made Akari miss her train, gave Yui another 10 second dream, made Kyouko's head bump more impactful. And when they made something longer, it's not just shots of the background.
TYO not only took away jokes but they had awful pacing with everything else. When they did add something original, it usually wasn't good and replaced something else. Although both studios at least once added characters recklessly to a scene and made it worse.
If it gets a 4th season by another director that doesn't care about the series, I won't be interested at all.
