has depression ever been handled well in an anime?
every series I've watched that touched on it had the character get over it without any difficulty
pic obviously unrelated
Well, there is Evangelion. MC kinda destroys the world in the process and we are not even sure if he got over it.
Yes. Go watch the anime about depression instead of whatever bullshit you watched.

>not even sure if he got over it.
He does in the real ending
>>135139368
Well Evangelion was the only one I could think of that actually did do it well, I just forgot to mention it.

leave her aloneshe's cute

orange
Why couldn't this cutie's life spiral out of control due to the stress and hatred she received?
Would've made the show so much better.
>>135139322
I don't get it what's wrong with your pic except it being not anime related?
Oh, and there is Tatami Galaxy. It deals with social indecision in an interesting way. The MC is constantly displeased with his life, and I guess you can say that he has gotten over it because of forced introspection.
Basically this

Yeah. Sadly, watching Ulysses: The Anime (or any modernist piece) doesn't appeal to most people. Then again,SoL is closest we have to representing mundane events in a popular fiction.
>>135139322
There is PTSD in Uchuu Kyoudai.
I like how it's handled.

>99 episodes
why
>>135142897
because it's good
>>135139322
Which CVS is that, OP, and what time? I want to see this semen demon in real life so I canawkwardly buy a Sprite or something and never see her again
>>135143225
Maybe you should save that money for a therapist
>>135139322

Welcome to the NHK
>>135140031
I think in the end though NHK deals quite well with depression, you may have everything around you to push you out but until push comes to shove, you'll stay there forever, it just needs that spark to put you on the right track.
>>135143316
>maybe I should buy a therapist for $2.75
>>135139322
Clannad: AS?
>>135143225
not my picturebut shes quite the sperm wyrm
>>135143369
You should buy the therapist called bottom-shelf liquor
$2.75's not quite enough but it's a good start
>>135143369
it's either that or turning into /r9k/

Did someone say cum commander?
>>135143436
Fair enough.

That's more about social anxiety and awkwardness than depression.

I thought Rozen Maiden did a great job with Jun
Anyone else got the feeling from Ping Pong's conclusion thatSmile had actually been depressed all along and just finally managed to let loose?I mean he never smiles, never feels that trying to achieve anything has any meaning, and just generally keeps to himself playing his videogame. It's subtle, but how happy he seems in the end compared to throughout the series is pretty radical.
>>135143392
If they ended it withTomoya accepting Nagisa's deathand them moving on and having a happy life yeah, but the magical ending kinda ruins that point of that.
>>135139486
This was actually pretty well written early on.
>>135144731
>magical ending kinda ruins that point of that.
i admit, that was a total asspull and ruined the entire thing.
>>135144772
I haven't actually finished it
Im on episode 6, does it all go downhill?
I'm just scared after what happened with Glasslip
>>135144879
I doesn't get bad, but it loses a lot of potentiality it had going early on. What could've been a thoughtful drama ended up as moe shenanigans and SoL stuff.
>>135139322
Welcome to the NHK. it has comedy mixed in but the ending result is absolute depression
>>135145097
The novel did it better honestly. There's only so much asinine stream of consciousness that you can fit into an episode and still get people to watch it. The anime's ending was also too optimistic and emotional for what it was.
While its an entirely different beast than depression, I feel like Serial Experiments Lain portrays psychosis pretty well.
Not the hallucinations, specifically, but the overall disconnection from reality was really done well.
>>135144864
It feels like an asspull because the anime only briefly mentions the balls of light granting wishes, if they implied it was karma or something it would have worked a lot better though.
>>135139322
I'd get out of my depression to get her out of her depression, I you know what I mean.
