Holy fucking shit, you guys weren't kidding about this boat meme.
>>
People only care about Berserk when Miura announces another hiatus.
>>
>>135095283
Because then we can expect to ignore it for a few years then come back and get caught up.

I'll see you all in 2017.

I bloody hate it, but I'd rather this then him rushing his work just to get it out by a deadline. Maybe he actually needs this time to carefully plan out the story and how's it going to end, that and drawing up the scenes too. Though I mean I hope that's why and not because of Idolmaster or whatever else he could be fucking distracted by.
>>
>>135095596
I don't understand how someone can be writing a story for so long and not knowing how to end it.

I understand if he knows how he wants it to end, but getting on that boat felt like playing D&D with an amateur DM.

Some people just start an idea for a good story but haven't even planned out an ending for it yet. This can be ok or not ok depending if the writer is competent enough to figure something good later. It seems like Miuras in between. I think I saw an article where he stated something like he knew what sort of closure and emotion the ending should have but not going into any sort of detail of how its going to happen. But from that its most likely he doesn't want to reveal any spoilers, or maybe he secretly doesn't actually know how the ending will go down.
Either way...
I hope he knows what he's doing.

Same. But as we see now it was all for a kingdom which we all knew was his ultimate desire. Now the problem is where the fuck does it go now since Griffith has everything he wants?
>>
>>135095596

>but I'd rather this then him rushing his work

Friend, I have some great news for you.

But seriously, the guy had over 20 fucking years to come up with the story, and 3 major hiatuses. I'd say he's taken his sweet time and then some. There's been long running acclaimed series that has begun and ended in the time it took for Berserk to come back from a hiatus. The guy just recently came back from a major hiatus and going back to another one after 5 months. So quit that apologist rhetoric, and accept that Miura has a problem.
>>
>>135096625
Plus, I might be forgetting something, but he pretty much hasn't made an appearance as Femto, chronologically, since the first arc before Golden Age, right?

It's like he regretted making Griffith that powerful.
>>
>>135096655
But maybe this much amount of time taken is what makes Berserk truly great. Either that or takes Mirua a long god damn time to go come up with how to construct another part of the story.

Miura nearly ruined Berserk after turning Guts' adventure into Dungeons and Dragons, complete with random encounters.
>>
>>135096944
He just needs to keep it from fizzling. He did a great job of keeping up momentum after Golden Age all the way up to a little after Conviction.
>>
>>135096944

Then I'd say he would need to find and employ help, since it clearly became too much for him to handle alone.
>>
>>135097046
it was quite refreshing,to see other stuff besides demon rape and Darkness-is-consuming-me shit. Not that is totally gone,it's just sprinkled with other interesting things, also it's nice to see Guts with comrades, it gives me warm feelings and you just know it's building up to some real tragic tweest.
>>
>>135095596
Miura already hates his own work. He's just procrastinating now.
>>
>>135097347
I'm glad someone else has the same sentiments. Let's be honest, if Miura continued down the Black Swordsman pattern two things were going to happen:
>He'll eventually run out of ideas
>Readers get sick of it and ends up becoming le edgy memespam
At the very least, he kept the suffering and dark genre. A few man eating unicorns ain't gonna change shit.
>>
>>135097319
He prob doesn't have the monies. Not many people care about Berserk or buy its stuff. That and you can find all of its manga scans online for free.

I want Griffith to end up like this again more than I want him to get killed. It's what he deserves.

It could also allow for Guts to get a little emotionally attached to Griffith again, getting revenge while maybe finally putting down his sword.

We have the chance now. Peops are of the boat, rickert is running from paradies. Now the question is only, how soon miura wants to draw something sick again.

You mean most manga writers. I've noticed a pattern where they usually come up with a cast of characters with good dynamic, a bit of lore and first few coherent story arcs. Then there is a sort of ''break'' where plot threads start to go nowhere, characters going full retard, asspulls and deus ex machinas everywhere.
>>

If there's anything to complain about, it's inconsistency; artwork, genre and release dates. You can make a bet to say Berserk wouldn't end in Miura's lifetime.

Have you ever tried to code a large program, then got halfway in and realized that everything's fucked and if you did this you could do that but if you don't you'll have to do twice as much and you end up quitting? Going balls deep into a plot without planning it out is a lot like that, unless your story is very self-contained.
>>
>>135103424

Miura's delays are not a matter of quality. The man simply does not care anymore. If he cared enough to put in even solid 8 hour days 5 days a week, this manga could be drawn well enough to make Michelangelo weep and still have a regular release schedule.

This is like defending GURM writing 250 words a day as a professional author. It's laziness, plain and simple.
>>
>>135103565
That's assuming he even knows where the story is going, and he's recently said he doesn't.

>>
>>135103703

Not the guy. He didn't say he could fucking do what Miura does. But look, when you're a fan of a manga series and you bought all the volumes and now when you're waiting for the story to be concluded. It's kind of fucking infuriating when you hear stuff about the author going on a long hiatus and then only returning with little developed content. And sure you could say that Miura needs to take his time to get everything right. Though did it really need to take 7 years for one chapter to come out?
>>
>>135103768

Anon, "w-well you haven't made anything" is the oldest defense in the book, and resorting to ad hominems indicates that you have nothing else to fall back on. I guarantee you that you have called animation shit on this site at some point before despite having never animated a show yourself, for example. You don't have to do something to know when someone else isn't doing it well.

The simple fact of the matter is that you care more about the manga finishing at this point than the author does, and that's fine. Just accept it.

Apples and oranges, anon.

You don't need to be an artist to know when animation looks like shit. You don't need to be a writer to know that a plot is riddled with holes. You don't need to be anything to know that picture books, even expertly drawn ones, don't take months or years of hard work to push out a meager few pages. What's more, I GUARANTEE that you have criticized the plot and visuals of shows and manga on this board more than once despite your own logic precluding you from having a valid opinion on these things.

The fact of the matter is that any layman is perfectly capable of discerning that Miura simply does not give a shit anymore, because he hasn't kept to a regular work schedule, however slow, in years.

All these stories about Miura's Idolmaster-spamming hiatuses remind me of those stories about Nagano's FSS hiatuses. In particular, how he once missed a deadline by 2 whole months, and disconnected his phone and email and went to a separate house to play Phantasy Star Online the whole time, so his editors couldn't even find him, and only managed to do so by making PSO accounts of their own and chatting with Nagano online there. And then once they did convince him to continue with the manga, he decided to spend 7 fucking years making Gothicmade instead.

I'm sure someone like Kishi or Oda would murder Nagano and Miura if they were to meet.
