People get better over time honing a craft. Moreover they see certain trends, see what others are doing, learn new skills, draw how they "wanted" them to look, copy etc.

Ignoring the scribble era, Togashi's style has probably changed most drastically in the DC arc. He said in an interview that he decided not to use tones in HxH at the start, but has started using them more (since ~volume 30). I'm not too sure of the process but I'm guessing that's one reason he's actually bothering with backgrounds now. Maybe he also had a huge inspiration boost that suddenly ran out too.
Pic related is nothing special, just a random page that isn't supposed to stand out, but I don't think anyone would look at it and even realize that it's Togashi because of how detailed the background is.
At least Nihei learned how to draw different faces with time. He's not that good at it, but by god he tries.

I guess it's apprehension based on Kubo. This arc and the Aizen arc are WAY longer than people thought they would be (I remember people swearing Bleach was going to end in 2014), so I guess given that the anime goes through 3-5 chapters per episode, there's no guarantee the manga will be finished by the time they catch up even with the enormous lead it has.

The reason Ichigo has not had a single meaningful fight in all this time is because he's simply too strong. He was too strong to fight against Quilge, he was too strong for the slut 4 and he was too strong for the SS. Askin beat him by decreasing his tolerance to a substance that is found in abundance in the king's palace. In a fair fight Ichigo would murder him without even having to use a standard getsuga, let alone anything beyond that.
Askin is lower level in terms of fighting potential and he admits that, but his ability is incredibly overpowered.
