1. This is like one segment of the anime, during the main boss fight. There's so much "quality" in the anime as a whole that this hardly negates it (see Dragon Ball Super's few good fight sequences)
2. This scene isn't even really all that well animated. I mena it gives you the impression of being well animated by having a lot of superflous movements, Fluidity to the motions and crazy camera movements. But if I'm rating on just an animation stand point, it's really just wild, hard to focus, and fast.
There's a distinct lack of weight to a lot of the motions, really weird anticipation and follow through, and the character flail around in really weird unnecessary way that really doesn't prepare you for the next hit.
tl;dr.
It's very fluid and pretty but it's basically just shiny,flamboyant bullshit as a way of generating artificial hype.

I'm convinced Toei uses long running series to train new animators. It makes no sense otherwise. Even with time constraints a veteran wouldn't do such a poor job with these shows unless they flat out didn't care about the show they are working on.

I actually saw this a while ago and was surprised they made it so flashy. I won't call it awful but I will say it suffers from all the complaints I had for the previous one. A lot of superflous, weightless wiggling that makes you think "Wow, This is really fluid!!!" But I'll give toei this. This is still better than their usual quality as of late.

I'll consede that, although some of the snipets of the SSG fight with Beerus look pretty decent. They tend to suffer from different problems than One Piece's issues. (Rather than being to fluid and weightless, they have a habit of being to stiff and disjointed at times)

I'd say it's pretty decent. There's also a lot of sperflous movement but it's got a much greater sense of weight, Significantly better art direction and most importantly, It's not quite as hard to follow. I'm no expert on animation so my opinion hardly matters but I think just those few things is what makes this scene feel so much stronger to me than a lot of what Toei does.

OP isn't seeing anything safe for one fight a year. It actually surprised to see animations in some of the officer fights. Last time I checked, Usopp pulled his slingshot for 12 minutes, while you could hear the sound of it all the time. You'd think the whole thing would lose all of its elasticity by the end.
And before that I saw Doffy vs Sanji with no animation whatsoever. Everything was just still imagines and punches were cut to not connect and then you'd just see Sanji fly away.

In the manga Gohan wasnt tortured by Friez, therefore Piccolo didnt die protecting him, therefore he didnt regret not training. Also Gohan didnt agree or disagree to nothing. It was Goku who decided everything.
I am curious how Toei is going to excuse Gohan's absend in the tournament, if they use the same excuse as the manga it would look as bad writing considering what happened in the anime, but it is a possibility.

Dragonball Z did itself an incredible disservice when it moved from technique to power levels. With martial arts, you can make unexpected things happen. With what they did with DBZ, it just turns into uninteresting beamspam that not even endearing childhood characters can save.

It's not complicated. It's a rushed production. The few good animators attached to the project don't have time to do their best work.; the rest are inexperienced/poorly trained. Oftentimes, as you may see in the credits, they are outsourcing in-between animation to the Philippines. Episodes have multiple directors, a sign that they actually had to delegate parts of an episode to different groups just to get it done in time.
It's not a matter of budget as some would like to believe. It's just poor planning. They've rushed into weekly TV production because in their business model, the show isn't the product, it's just there to advertise products, to keep the brand in the public consciousness. Toei produces a fuckload of things, and Super just isn't a huge priority for them.
