Overall it is a very good anime. Good story, good art, good sound, great characters, and interesting space battles. I highly recommend this if you are fond of action anime that involve mecha and space battles. It isn't childish either by any means and I really love this for detailing hardships of post-war and of food shortages. The leader of the ship goes through some strong character development

I watched AGE for the first time recently. It was not even half as awful as I was expecting based on people's reception.
It was flawed in several places (most notably the arc with the gangs taking far too long at the start, the rushed conclusion), but I'd honestly take it over MOST AU Gundam series. It's very solid and manages to handle very Gundam themes while doing its own original thing. Very easily better than Wing and SEED/Destiny, equal to or better than X. I won't rate it against G because rating G against -anything- is a messy affair.
I can see why the lack of humanity in the Vagan for most of the first arc might be a turn off, but I thought it was an alright attempt at doing something Gundam hadn't really done in a series yet. (Note: in a series. Meaning Trailblazer doesn't count). There's also the whole very "Toy"ish nature of the various AGE add-ons and how they negatively affected the action in some points, but let's be real - 0079 was the most Buy My Toys-oriented series out there. Not commonly thought of as a major detractor.
So what about AGE gets people's panties in a bunch exactly? Late 1st arc, whole 2nd arc, and much of the 3rd/4th arcs are pretty good in all honesty.

Have you even watched 0079? The seminal series of Gundam? Amuro casually dispatches mooks en masse before he's even a skilled pilot just by the strength of Gundam and its armaments alone. All the fights are just standard slugfests with no real tactics to them.

Am I the only person who likes both G-Reco and IBO?The only criticism I have for IBO is that the plot moves a bit slow.I also dislike how the only Gundam villains in the past two series that seem threatening are these space pirates. Gjallhorn seems like a bunch of pretty boys pretending to be soldiers and the G-Reco villains were all silly and incompetent(they fit the setting of the story,so I wound up liking them).Where have all the intimidating villains gone?

and i'll admit neither are stellar, but i enjoy them both for different reasons. I thought grecos world was really interesting and the show was gorgeous but the whole thing was really rushed at times and some parts were difficult to follow. IBO feels like the complete opposite, its a lot slower which i dont mind because we get to spend more time with characters but it can be kind of tedious with the characters over explaining the things that are happening around them. Theyre just different flavours of gundam and i like them both.
