Seems fine to me, although some of them are quite rude. I posted about a chapter of the manga when I was reading it and got spoilered for another part of the manga. Fortunately, I don't care about spoilers and forgot about it later. Anyway, those threads seem fine for the most part and mostly discuss the franchise.
I don't understand the obsession with general threads. Any show about an anime is technically a general thread, the only alternative is a show being banned, or posting more than 1 thread about a show, which usually gets deleted (for example after an OPM episode). It seems like a red herring compared to the real issues.

Yeah that's true. For me it seems to be a case by case basis. For example there's some shows you can only talk about in a general, or that get trolled outside of it, for example recent Gundam shows. So in that case it seems like the best option. It may piss people off since it's more organized and less spontaneous than how 4chan was, but it seems similar to 2ch mega threads to organize by general threads. I see why people are upset but it seems overblown as an issue.
