Quite the opposite. A large reason why anime became such cult thing in the first place (especially in the west) is because of all the perverted shit that was abundant in the 90's and 80's. If anything, anime is way too tame and pussywhipped today (studios expect modern anime fans to pay full price for a slightly less obscured panty shot on BD).

They will however say the old style had more charm, more soul.
Which is true, something about many moden anime is just off. You have some stuff with visuals that have a style, charm, whatever. But lots of it is just sterile.
