>>
>>134862218

Apparently it took a while for Toei and Saban ti hammer out the details, but basically apparently Toei wanted a single global distributor for the franchise instead of a bunch of companies doing it for their respective markets. This is why they started with Smile, as because of then it was the newest show.

Original title was Gangnam Girls, but the trademark office rejected their filing. Plus their Saturday morning cartoon block got the axe, so setbacks aside here we are
>>
Since there aren't any guns to paint over in precure, how are they going to make this kid friendly? Remove all the fight scenes?
>>
>>134862365
Honestly, I thought they started with Smile because it's far easier to localize. The show is more comedy than action which fits the trends of most cartoons aimed at younger children/pre-teens in the US.
>>
>>134862428
Very likely clip out any shots to the face, not that there's much of that in PreCure anyway. The violence is blood free and that's always been fairly kosher.

The voice acting is flat and lazy, hiring the same fucks that are too talentless to move beyond anime dubbing business. The localization team is stuck in the CAN'T HAVE THIS TAKING PLACE IN A FOREIGN SOUNDING COUNTRY mentality that literally everybody got over in the 80's and is helpful to no one. We live in a globalized society now, memes about Americans aside, we aren't afraid of the mysterious far off land in the east anymore. Not only that, but the presentation isn't going to appeal to girls nowadays anyways and the project is going to fall flat on it's ass. Fucking up the opportunity for any future releases.

So I suppose I'm angry for one of two reasons, for one my niece is being handed an inferior product, and two, I could easily do a better job at localizing it. I know you want to be super cool and have opinions contrary to the norm around /a/ so you can fit in, but you couldn't even defend this as a smart business move, much less a decent localization.

And beyond that, I don't need an excuse to get angry, it's 4:00 AM and I have yet to have gotten my daily dose of hating the people around me for their incompetence.

>>134863160
They don't know exactly why people hate horsefuckers in the first place. They likely weren't here when they collectively spammed every fucking board so they could get their own, despite the fact that there was a dedicated altchan set up for their shit. The collective age of /a/ has dipped significantly in the last years because of the recent trendiness of weeb shit, and it shows in the posts.

Hmmm well honestly I just now heard about it when you mentioned it to me, I've been watching anime for the last 15 years or so but I'm mainstream trash who only watches whatever gets hyped up and given lots of publicity.

I literally have never heard anyone mention Pretty Cure on other parts of the internet, granted I don't come to /a/ very often and I'm aware /a/ watches shows that very few people have heard of.

So was Pretty Cure super popular in Japan or something? Because I've never heard of it but it reminds me of Sailor Moon mixed with MLP and autism.

It looks like a trash anime though that only MLP fags or loli fags would watch so I'll just assume you are autistic with shit taste anon, it's okay.

Because those shows were originally picked up by companies to appeal to anime fans, with a wider mainstream audience on places like Hulu or Netflix being a bonus.

Glitter Force is a project by Saban to localize Precure into something marketable for girls, and I'd imagine once they lost their morning block Nickelodeon or whomever didn't want to touch it. So I'd guess Netflix were the only ones left that were interested so they could throw an "exclusive" label on it.

>You see, the funny thing is that this is how everyone in Japan who isn't an otaku faggot views Precure. They view it as a show for girls, and it is.

I wonder if normal japanese adults cringe at PreCure the way we're cringing at this. But at least the original has respectable quality to it so the sakuga fags can at least justify watching without being called a pervert. Not that they're mutually exclusive.

OTOH the preview shows signs of treating children as imbeciles that I thought American cartoons from the last ten years had learned how not to do. No complicated plots. No really scary bad guys. The good guys are always happy and always win. Every story ends with an uplifting life lesson. It'll go over great with the people who want their "safe space" I suppose.

>>134863229
My niece grew up on Disney soapettes like Hannah Montana. I think the only cartoon she cared about was Winnie the Pooh and she was still in diapers then.

Also American kids these days don't like 2D. They equate good with Pixar and drawn animation is "cheap".

But now we're full on /co/ so...
>>
>>134865652
>I wonder if normal japanese adults cringe at PreCure the way we're cringing at this.
One of my favorite memories I made while still living in Japan was having a conversation with a middle aged female coworker about Pretty Cure, where we both lamented over how the newer seasons shied from the fights of the older ones. It was a very surreal experience.

I'm certain if I were to ask a 6th grade girl about their opinion on PC, they'd scoff at it and say it's for little kids (even though they likely watched it a few years earlier). But when it comes to adults and the actual target audience of Pretty Cure, I can rarely hear a bad word about it (in general, that is). The same is of course true for a lot of mainstream anime like Doraemon and Detective Conan.
At least, that's how things came across to me.

Adding context and changing cure to a verb makes it more accessible, but your first sentence still makes no sense. Perhaps most notably because a cure isn't usually something people look at, but rather use. Miracle cure, slow cure, and false cure all make sense. Pretty cure, not so much.

But this has gone on too long.

Searching for "pretty cure" -anime -episode in Google Books brings up some amusing results.

>A pretty cure is reported by Dr. Attomyr in his "Letters on Homeopathy." A boy of thirteen years had been complaining for four days past of violent stitches in the forehead and eyes, darting from without inwards. The pain continued day and night, abating only momentarily and returning all the more violently after an abatement. The boy had fever, a bitter taste in his mouth, complete loss of appetite, and constipation. Six hours after one dose of Colocynth 30, the pain disappeared, and on the day following the patient left his bed.
