I think I figured it out.
I was gonna ask, "What's with Nanao's clan's Zanpakuto? Gin had an equivalent weapon, at least in name. Shinsou, Sacred Spear. Kamishini no Yari, God-Killing Spear. Did his zanpakuto possess the power/magic to do the same?"
Then I realized - if these elite Quincy are going to call themselves gods, the perfect time to re-introduce Gin would be at the crux of one of these fights. He's coming back, friends.

Gin's weapon is for god killing. Nanao's weapon is for god weakening. Gin probably developed his Bankai because of his strong desire to kill the self-proclaimed god Aizen. Gin would probably kill Lille's first transformation, but get sucker punched like Shunsui, when Lille regenerates. And I think Gin isn't as durable as Shunsui. The Ise clan sword was probably created to assist in a ritual that could bound gods or god-like being, for example the Soul King.
