I only use it to track what I'm watching/what I have watched.

I find it's useful, the advance search function is great when I'm wanting to find something to watch from a certain genre, decade, studio, director, and etc. In that regard it's much better than Wikipedia.
Personally I use it for the database, tracking shows and shit. Other than that, ignore the community and everything else about it.
