There was a lot of that in the later episodes, for sure. It led to some really fucking great moments, like a minute passing before Shinji decapitates GayBoy. NGE through 24 + EoE is one of the few perfect things that exist, which is amazing considering the hurdles they faced.
The last two episodes are good for when you wanna try to chug a pint of jameson in an hour.
