Can we discuss why many so people have such a hate boner for the movies? Like, I get it, they couldn't squeeze every little story into the movies, but CG aside I thought they were quite good. Meanwhile some people look at them like this is one of those "the x that shall not be named" sort of deals.

The reason I dislike them is that they make the series look horrible to any newcomers who watch them. If the movies had been my introduction to Berserk I would've thought they were a terribly written, horrible paced mess with nothing but blood and sex.
Every now and then I'll rewatch parts of the movies, but I cant watch any one of them all the way through in a single sitting because I get bored, the pacing is simply awful.

We got off the boat but... I feel nothing. No happiness, no joy, just nothing. There were literally like half a dozen panels and they were off the boat. Some cheesy line about 'Oh we finally made it.' and we're there. I'm disappointed, maybe just because we hyped it up so much.
Also I'm now really afraid that since time works differently on Skellig Guts will return to Midland and Griffith will have invented laser beams or spaceships or be an old man in a wheelchair or something really dumb. Grunbeld seems to be the weakest, he's just a shitter with a really thick skin. I was sure Rakshas is the strongest until Ricket defeated him with pelts. Hunter would probably provide the hardest match-up for Guts, being ranged fighter and all

Actually the movies were my gateway to Berserk. I liked them enough to read the manga up to the Golden Age arc, then watched the series and will soon resume the manga.
