I know the show was Absolute Shit, but I'm surprised that the anime did not even boost anime sales a whole lot. There was a boost but the boost was minimal.

It was selling like 10,000+ volumes prior to the anime, so saying that there were no sales before the anime is wrong. A light novel series with poor sales would be Salami or Rail Wars.
Did anyone else actually enjoy the show? I thought it was funny how the teacher basically gets away with murder and they have these random fights all for the sake of "Absolute Duo" which never even gets explained.
I came up with my own answer for what absolute duo is after they hadn't explained it by halfway through the season. Absolute duo obviously has something to do with being a certain level of power, but they seem to also be able to just boost power by giving you anime steroids. So Absolute Duo is when two people become so powerful that they start producing their own power steroids. So the people organising all this stuff want 2 people to achieve absolute duo so they can farm them for drugs.
