Well, at larger stations they do have gates to prevent both people jumping and being accidentally pushed onto tracks during peak periods. Because they have to pull up in line with the walls and gates, it does have the advantage of meaning you actually know where to line up.

The only thing japan has going for it is the best passenger system in the world. Meanwhile, America has one of the worst, but manages to have the best freight system. A shame, too, since the US had some nice-ass trains for their passenger lines before Amtrak came into being.

The author tried to contribute to the anime in some form but the animation studio basically said "Fuck you, we know better" and didn't follow the original novel at all. It flopped and apparently the anime was derided by the original author for being so bad. Also, I heard the animation studio locked Uno Makoto out of doing anything like porn and stuff for an unknown amount of time. So seriously, fuck the studio that did this show. Bunch or assholes.
