Needing 4 arcs is fucking stupid. Between Utgarde/Titan clash and the pol arc there's more than enough content for a season.
I mean the first season practically only had two arcs as it was, Trost and the Female Titan. Shiganshina getting fucked and the training were more like prologues to the main stuff.

My theories on that are either:
It's hinting at how the walls were made. A bunch of Colossal Titans merging and hardening their skin together.
Or, Isayama told them that at some point in the story titan merging becomes a thing (eg Eren and Annie join their titans together to make a 30 meter titan they both control), and they decided to hint at that early.

I always thought that the walls were just hardened corpses of a shifter as the hardened material stays behind and also there are thousands of segments so them all being shifters seems a bit overkill, the double titan thing sounds cool tho
