Why the fuck is Kyon's voice so loud, deep, and booming?
I know all this shit is indicative of Sugita, but why does he use it for Kyon?
You'd think some director or staff member would realize high schoolers are not JAV actors or sports announcers.
Is there a specific line in the LN's that describe Kyon's voice in a deep, attention grabbing fashion? Because unless that's how he's cannonically supposed to sound, then it was a poor, unrealistic choice.

Because age is always so relevant right? Although he may be 15 at the start, hs definitely doesn't act/seem like he's 15 so the argument of him being 15 kind of falls flat once you take more than his literal age into account.
Also it's not exactly common to have a deep voice at 15, my voice got through being husky at 13-14.

Before Gintoki popularized Sugita as being typecast as loud hammy comical characters that make silly feminine screeches, he was mainly known for his suave voice that was good at monologues and tsukkomi, which is why he was so fitting for Kyon. His roles as Hideki in Chobits and Yuuichi in Kanon 2006 are other good examples of this.
This is one show that has a great dub.

I have never understood the "Kyon sounds too old" thing. Sugita isn't Yasumoto Hiroki or Kuroda Takaya, and he doesn't even use buffed voice (eg. Ragna) for Kyon.
