Yep yep, this. Tomoya got a chance at a happy ending because of the kindness and consideration he showed to others. Along the way, he also learned to value what little family he had, even if it was fraught with problems and that family isn't just blood, it's also those you hold dear.
And that's fine. There's a ton of other shows with "the world is shit and it'll shit on you" endings out there if that's really what you're after.
