Read the manga's ending today. Even though I did know aboutKafuka being dead all along and possessing the different girls in different scenesit was still quite fascinating to read. Shit was strange, but I gotta say I like it.

Well, Shaft made a Katte ni Kaizou OVA 7 years after the manga ended, so anything's possible I guess.

It must have killed them when Zan just didn't sell very well. The fact that they wrote a letter of apology about being unable to finish it in one of the OPs is kind of heartbreaking.

SZS still seems pretty popular on futaba etc, if they were to make an OVA with just the ending, they'd probably make the money back pretty easily. Maybe.
So I'm not sure, maybe Kodansha pulled the rights from them, maybe Shinbo just wants to move on from it, I don't know.
Apparently from what I could tell from twitter, SZS has quite a large showing at the Madogatari event thing that shaft is hosting, so they're still holding some love for it
