I'd rather want to know why after all the shit that happened in SAO these Nervegear things still exist.
It's a videogame console that killed more than 3000 people in 2 years, how is this shit not banned everywhere? In Australia they banned the uncut version of games like Saint's Row 4 because of it's violence and nudity, but Nips don't ban a console that killed over 3000 people?

Why don't you microwave the microwave with an EMP nigga, people just didn't care at all did they?

I think everyone stopped trying when the entire world became 1000000% better when all the people who buy MMOs on launch day fell into a coma.
>>

Nervegear was taken from the market, the Amusphere was put out in its place, it's way weaker than the Nervegear, so the experience isn't as great, but it is safe.

Haven't you been paying attention?

Any sane person should just report this thread for trolling.
>>
>>134387155
It was probably banned and recalled but the newer version which people used for ALO was probably allowed since it doesn't use the deadly microwaves.
>>
>>134387192
I guess that'd work, yeah. Dunno how exactly it affects machines but if it makes it all crash at once, it works.

Either way there's no way some engineers wouldn't have figured something out in the two years it took to get them out of here.
>>
>>134386688
I am pretty sure it could be tampered and removed without issues, but people with shit taste still needs the anime/novels to keep going about a pathetic kid getting the girl in a videogame.

You could literally just pull it off really quickly

inb4 even if you can it might harm them because their nerves are connected or some shit

She was probably well aware. It's pretty common for people to do things online they'd be too afraid to do in real life. That's the whole idea behind roleplaying. She's a meek, shy loner girl with no confidence or self esteem who roleplays online as a sexy and confident femme fatale, living out her repressed desires for attention, control and sexuality through an avatar of her own creation. She's exposing her ass online because she'd never do it in real life, and wants to be someone that she's not in real life.

This whole NerveGear just doesn't make any sense.

Kayaba shouldn't even be able to release gear with a fucking high-power microwave generator inside, not to mention everything needed for it to work, like power source (I believe that you need a bit more bit more than few AA batteries worth of power to instantly fry a brain with microwaves) and electronics. Unless he personally put that shit in every device (which would require empty space left for no reason), someone involved in production should've realised that something is VERY wrong.

Even assuming that he miraculously managed to put a microwave oven in NerveGear, people on the outside were able to freely toy with devices left after noobs that died first. Yes, those were fried, but not burnt to ashes or shred to pieces, it should be perfectly possible to find a way to disarm the device. The players would be free after less than a week.

jokes aside I still don't understand what made this popular.
especially the animu, I didn't even read it but I bet it skipped tons of shit.

With technology so advanced how come they couldn't figure out to save others?
Why was kirito so strong despite being a solo player?
Why he didn't used his admin powers before if he could do it?
Why didn't they just break the helmets, or remove everything what powers them up?
Why didn't the government or someone study the nervegear more closely?
What was the actual motivation of the villain, if it was not only to mass murder people?
Why did he actually help others, if his they would die?
Why would let anyone to actually allow a person which is mentally unstable be in charge of something what is dangerous?
Why would someone buy and use such a dangerous device which is messing with human brain itself which is untested.
Why people get into a game again which already killed so many before?
Why did hospitals allow everyone to be on life support for so long, if noone was sure if they are going to come back, also that would cost a lot of money considering how many people played it?

whyyyyyyyy~
>>
>>134388549
Government was colluding with the company for brain control research. The company was obviously in on the whole thing - otherwise, they wouldn't be able to instantly transfer x% of the players from SAO to the elf game.
>>
>>134388186
You're clearly just not looking hard enough.
>>
>>134388549
>With technology so advanced how come they couldn't figure out to save others?
It's the future, who knows? The author sure didn't.
>Why was kirito so strong despite being a solo player?
Autismal grinding + luck. Aside from having people to help you out when you get Stunned or whatnot, SAO actually de-incentivizes partying due to small mob sizes and friendly attacks getting in the way. Grinding in a party is oftentimes inefficient.
>Why he didn't used his admin powers before if he could do it?
What?
>Why didn't they just break the helmets, or remove everything what powers them up?
Because ultra-strong battery or something.
>Why didn't the government or someone study the nervegear more closely?
>>implying the author cared
The moral of the story is that deregulation can be dangerous, and there are some government entities you should try to keep open.
>What was the actual motivation of the villain, if it was not only to mass murder people?
For people to come live in his fantasy world. He wanted to watch his super-immersive grindy as fuck JRPG experience come to life.
>Why did he actually help others, if his they would die?
What?
>Why would let anyone to actually allow a person which is mentally unstable be in charge of something what is dangerous?
Sociopaths are oftentimes quite capable of blending into society.
>Why would someone buy and use such a dangerous device which is messing with human brain itself which is untested.
It was tested. Poorly, apparently.
>Why people get into a game again which already killed so many before?
Fun.
>Why did hospitals allow everyone to be on life support for so long, if noone was sure if they are going to come back, also that would cost a lot of money considering how many people played it?
It was expensive. No one in government wants to be responsible for killing 10K people.

MMOs don't operate on hopes and dreams, they need some fucking hardware to sustain that many players.

Why didn't Kirito wield a two handed sword or a shield on his lower levels if its would be actually more pratical?
Why is dual wielding two long swords encouraged despise it makes more difficult to move and attack too and on top of it making others more open to attacks?

>Why didn't Kirito wield a two handed sword or a shield on his lower levels if its would be actually more pratical?
This is a legit Frodo, but Rule of Cool holds.
>Why is dual wielding two long swords encouraged despise it makes more difficult to move and attack too and on top of it making others more open to attacks?
See note 1, supra.
>Why didn't the nervegears internal batteries run out of juice?
If they were allowed to drop below a certain battery level, the microwave thing would kick in. Hence, people were careful to keep them on shore power.
>How did people have that much money that they could pay the hospitalization bills?
The government paid for it.
>Why didn't the bad elf guy made Asuna's cage more fortified?
He's an overconfident ass.
>Why did the exact same people get into the game again after being on life support for so long, that would cause at least some mental shock, no?
Stockholm Syndrome + difficulty adjusting to mundanity. Same reason people sign up for repeat tours in Afghanistan.
>Why didn't kirito transform into a monster more times?
Rule of Cool.
>Why did some people think that they can live happily in the game if they are aware they in coma on the other side?
That's a question of metaphysics and values. Some people like the beautiful fiction more.
>Why did the villain seem like a good guy at the end, despite murdering a lot of people?
Stockholm Syndrome + he was exercising his own twisted sense of fair play.
>Why didn't he allow people to quit his game the time they want it, so he could go on without being the bad guy?
Because he had a hard-on for being the final boss.
>Why didn't the government track down the servers and their power supplies?
Because if they were to DC people, the microwaves would kick in. (Doesn't explain why they didn't try to get physical access and hack the servers, however, so half a Frodo.)

Why did he actually wanted to be a final boss, despite he actually helped the players?
Why didn't they just disabled the nervegear with magnets?
Why did they allow Nervegear to exist in the first place?
Why did the players survive so long after being exposed to 0/24 microwaves with the gear on?
Why noone tried to solve how nervegear actually functions if it has a few hours where it can be disconnected, hence they the players had to be transported to the hospitals?
Why did these people recover from being on life support so easily as if nothing happened not mentally but physically too?

Now we're getting some better Frodos.

>Why did he actually wanted to be a final boss, despite he actually helped the players?
Chalk this one up to a guy who likes playing games with people's lives. It's illogical, and that's the point.
>Why didn't they just disabled the nervegear with magnets?
We have a winner. The Nervgear is the big glaring plot-hole in the show.
>Why did they allow Nervegear to exist in the first place?
Yep. The product liability suit would be truly impressive.
>Why did the players survive so long after being exposed to 0/24 microwaves with the gear on?
Low power microwaves are actually pretty safe - you're bathed in them 24/7 already, since they're used in some forms of long-range comms. Moreover, since it's impossible to actually interface with a brain using microwaves, you kinda just have to suspend disbelief on this point.
>Why noone tried to solve how nervegear actually functions if it has a few hours where it can be disconnected, hence they the players had to be transported to the hospitals?
The implication was that they actually had to maintain connectivity during transport. Presumably they used portable cell modems, and were very careful.
>Why did these people recover from being on life support so easily as if nothing happened not mentally but physically too?
Huge fucking plothole. People start to deteriorate within days of being bedridden; Kirito shouldn't be able to walk, let alone knife-fight, after he wakes up.

Pic related is also a problem.

No. Remember, kids: English is a magical language, and if an entire country in real life can't figure it out, surely a bunch of AI you've bred can't, either! If some random people on the internet 15 years ago could mod HL into CS without doing stupid shit like having players summon RPGs at will, then they're already more competent than the Japanese programmers of the Underworld arc.

They tried but didn't go through with it because no one wanted to take the liability of failure.

What?
>Why did exactly Kirito get these super powers in the first place despite there were other people too?
You mean Dual Blades? Fastest reaction time, supposedly.
>Why did Asuna look so healthy despite her being on life support for long too?
She wasn't. A-1 doesn't want to make cute girls uncute.
>Why did the antagonist decide that they could leave despite the players didn't actually fulfilled what he expected?
Because he was a massive chuuni and thought it was cool as hell that the MC and MH broke the limitations of the game just like one of his Chinese cartoons!

Dunno. "I kill you if you don't try" is a compelling argument.

Dunno. He probably didn't care.

See two answers above. And there were plenty of advancements and items. I don't know where you got that from.

Yes. Kirito can do SAO's Sword Skills in UW because the government programmers never disabled them. The Big Bad for the first half of the arc cheated her way to power by figuring out English and console commands.
>>
Why the fuck did Suguha get into ALO? Don't you think she'd have some repercussions about a derivative of the device that put her "brother" in a 2 year life or death scenario?

How the fuck did Kirito beat Suguha after exiting SAO? Muscle deterioration aside, Sugu trained with actual swords while Kirito just played video games with auto-activating skills.

How did Kirito win a knife fight with a grown man when he is a middle-schooler with muscle deterioration?

Nigga it's a machine that lets you feel all 5 senses in a virtual environment. I don't know much about sensory feedback but using waves to send signales to the brain is probably the only way to do it without some weird surgery. So having something that sends microwaves isnt that shocking.

Btw a taser has a small battery and can go up to 1 000 000 volts or something like that.
>>
Couldn't they just use an EMP ? The device stops working entirely.
>>
>>134402063
>I don't know much about sensory feedback but using waves to send signales to the brain is probably the only way to do it without some weird surgery
This is probably true in the real world but in SAO the device is just put over your head and it works. Also, a taser requires sustained contact and even the most powerful electric shocks won't kill 100 percent of the time.
>>

What's really hilarious is that there was no one in the world who knew how to just shut them down. Did the villain make them all himself in his basement and just somehow get them into stores as a consumer item? They has to be designed and manufactured by some company.
None of the engineers knew how it worked? None of tehm thought it was weird to give it the ability to emit life threatening amounts of microwaves?
How did the thing even get approved for shelves?
None of it makes any sense because the writer didn't even think for two seconds before shitting all over the page.
>>
>>134405124
Think about how long SAO's lifespan would've been given the amount of content if it hadn't been a death game.
We're talking like 10+ years before DLC is needed.
Hell it took people 3 yrs to get to the 75th floor and that was with thousands of people playing 24/7 with their actual lives on the line.

Big bad would've been a multi billionaire if he released it as an actual game. With that money he coulda done even crazier mass murder, he coulda trapped everyone in the game when it reacher 100,000,000 daily players.
>>
>>134405275
It would have been cleared so much easier without the horrible threat of death though. Plus, more than 10k players, probably.
>>
>>134405338
I don't know about that.
You'd have to try it in real life to actually know whether or not that'd happen.
I'd say 10k players who play the game 24/7 would be far more skilled at clearing the game than 100k players playing 3-8 hours a day.
When you playing nothing but a game every single day you tend to get really really good
>>
They should've used The Matrix's explanation about how the body reflects the virtual self, that would've been a much better explanation than lol microwaves.
>>
>>134405425
Ultimately, Levels > Skills.

With safe and easy grinding, they would have blazed past.
>>
>>134405433
How funny would it have been if dying in the game actually just woke you up, but getting unplugged fried your brains.

Also I want to see how the moms who removed their kid's nervegear because they were being filthy NEETs reacted to their kid's brain getting microwaved.
SAO was a subtle message to parents to leave their kids be when they playin online games
>>
>>134405484
SAO seemed super exploitable with strategy given the player mobility though. I don't think Kirito was the best because he was overleveled but because he was just a swordplayfag (didn't they explain it with "lol kendo" or something)
>>
>>134405578
No, he quit kendo pretty young. He's just really good at the game.

But that's fucking retarded. The responsibility would still lie with teh manufacturer of teh product. When the breaks on several Toyota models started to malfunction in the 2000's, Toyota wasn't like, "If we don't do a recall, they won't know it's our fault!"
That's an absurd argument. And again, how the fuck do teh peoiple who made the fucking system not know that these things were a par tof it?
Someone had to have put the microwave emitter in the helmet. They engineers that designed and commissioned the manufacturing of the head sets had to have known that they were capable of. This is basic fucking logic.
It makes no god damn sense.
>>
>>134406284
Was the manufacturing done in-house? I don't remember.
>>
>>134406364
Even if it were, it would have had to have been approved. And even then, were all the people who worked at his company murderers that wanted to melt peoples' brains with microwaves?
And if he made them all himself, which is ridiculous, how did they get approved? Did he just walk to the local game store and say, "Sell my thing!" and no one said anything?
No matter how you look at it, it's stupid as hell.
>>
>>134406047
And as said earlier, if not the government, bored hackers who don't give a shit
>>
>>134405433
The better explanation would have been electrical sensors like some prosthetics have, and that when they're turnedo n the brain is in read/write mode like a HDD, and so doing shit to it is like a HDD fault. Comas and death.

At a certain point in time, you just have to roll with the fact that killer microwave helmets were made. It's the future with futuretech; speculating about Japanese FCC is pointless and ultimately irrelevant. It's part of the setting. "How did this pass government inspection?" is as irrelevant as "Why do elves innately have high magic potential?" They just do.

>>134414760
He dreamed of a scenario where a hero would take down him being Big Bad in this epic clash of swords, and you can really increase the tension if you actually have a goal to strive for. In short, Kayaba was a giant chuuni who probably read Jump every week.
