Is it just me or is it practically impossible to tell what going on in most of TG:RE's battle scenes?
I think you can also blame shit raws and shit cleaners on top of that.
Red is path of kagune.
Blue is path of Urie's body.

The action is just too hectic
There's not a lot of thought put into fight composition, it's pretty much just what the artist thinks looks nice. And it does, until you actually try to figure out what's happening.
I won't defend poor fight construction, but the battles are more or less a vehicle for the character development and story progression.

Someone posted a comparison last week between Imperial and raw/tankoubon and it's fairly clear that Imperial's releases look absolutely awful. Blacks are crushed, everything looks way too dark and it ruins a lot of scenes.

Ishida is just generally bad at panelling during action scenes. Shit wasn't that bad during the TG but I just find myself skipping through battle scenes in :re just due to how much of a clusterfuck his art becomes.

It still doesn't change that the scenes themselves are just too out of whack and half the time they just end up looking like nonsense
Was it always like this? I don't remember the original Tokyo Ghoul having this problem, only RE. Maybe my memory is just shit.

I honestly really like the way he draws his fight scenes, despite the confusion it may entail, but sometimes the postures of the characters are so ridiculous that I could picture them falling flat on their face in the next panel.

That is mostly true, since most of the people that read tg chapters are completely brain dead. That's why it's hard for you to understand what is going on... we add the bad scans and everything makes sense.
