If you think this shit is confusing then try to make sense of ss timeline. In TBTP Nanao was loli, and Kyouraku said he was a capitain for over 100 years. In this chapter's flashback he was seen talking to Nanao's mother, still young and without capitain's haori, while Nanao looks the same as 100 yeats later.That means she is fucking phenomenon, because she didn't age at all for over 100 years, while even Kyouraku was visibly older. It just hurts me to see Kubo not giving a fuck so much and proves that he didn't plan this shit at all.

She might've remained a child for a very long time however. Shunsui was a youth when he visited Nanao's mother and when he heard the news he was probably still in the academy. Nanao was very little back then, but she was only slightly older during TBTP. Another instance of spiritual development being linked to the aging process in Bleach.

I think it's a highly metaphorical take on religion that takes from them some core concepts and lets Kubo's twisted imagination fill in the blanks. What we're seeing in the arc right now is the Judeo-Christian God(YHWH, The Almighty, claims to own everything there ever was, etc)and his angelic host storm the imperial palace and usurp the throne of the divine Japanese Emperor(Spirit King is basically a king only in name and a prisoner of his own palace who(most likely)got deprived of his power by the people he was supposed to rule, much like the Tennō was).
It might also be that the beings of the spirit world aren't the beings humans call gods, but rather they call themselves after the gods that are believed to exist in the human world. Which is exactly the case with YHWH, and I wouldn't be surprised if Soul Society was like Feudal Japan precisely because of that too - Buddhists believing in reincarnation carrying on with business as usual because according to their belief system, they just reincarnated.

I concur. Let's not forget that Shunsui only chose to fight him directly because he was picking off their group one by one, and his reputation was on the line.
Most of the complaints about Shunsui's bankai I've seen are either that it's too conceptual (?) or that it's just not that good (because it couldn't kill an invincible opponent).
Then last week we had complaints about Nanao's word being able to one-shot Lille, which never happened. My only complaint about this chapter is that the format of the flashbacks was difficult to follow, but next chapter is guaranteed to provide more insight into this matter.
In other words, we might as well judge the quality of the fight as a whole when it's over instead of shitposting about it once a week.
