The thing is also good and succeeds on pretty much the same level as Alien except in the use of a dramatic camera. I don't know how you can like one and not the other.
And the themes of the lone survivor girl, maternalism, and the invincible monster are done really well in Alien.
And Blade Runner in its restored director's cut is also an excellent film. No it's not as good as Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep in terms of story. Yes, it's a cinematic powerhouse that helped codify an entire sci-fi aesthetic.
