Did you even read the fucking manga? Kenpachi hasn't got stronger since his initial battle with her when he was a kid. He put subconscious limits on his strenth because he was afraid of never having a tough fight again. The training with unohana was meant to remove the limits he put on himself. Without the training he would not have been a match for the stronger quincy and would not have gained his shikai.

Just how often do you think Kenpachi died in that 72 hour period? It wasn't just once or twice. Unohana straight up fucking murdered a bitch for 72 hours straight and kept reviving him.
Her K:D Ratio for that single match was probably like XXXX:1 accounting for a large decrease in killing speed near the end when Kenpachi would actually be back to near proper level.
