Hanamonogatari is packed full of water symbolism. Tooe discusses the whole plain water/poison/medicine business. If you want a Shinobu song then you can't have a Maaya song. Maaya makes those two concepts incompatible but refusing to sing in-character.
If you enjoy her work that's fine and if you think her not being a team player works then that's fine too but her ideals are effectively showing that she's primarily a musician and her ideals are too strict to bend which means they're going to break.
