Kamisato seems to be traveling with his harem. Touma will run off on his own at the very first opportunity. Forget traveling with anyone, he doesn't even know where most of them live.

That was never mentionned. Considering she had a uav right above him he didn't even need to tell her where he was. Their whole operation feels like it was planned out and while his harem is rather forceful I never got the impression that he actively tries to shake them off, rather he makes use of them. We've already established that Kamisato is pretty much compeltely different than Touma character wise, Kamisato seems much more thoughtful and analyzing than Touma who is more of rush in first, punch everything and ask questions later kind of guy. This means it would make a lot of sense for him to actually use his harem's abilities rather than be like Touma and rush off.

The first is example is the reason why they help when they don't want him to save random girls, because you know more competition and all that. This has nothing to do with wether he wants them there or not.

It feels like parody of harem events that you often see. Falling from the sky to meet the MC for example. I also think it's Kamachi's way of poking fun at people who want Touma's nature and the story to change into what they believe is right for him.
Othinus basically acted as Kamachi's mouthpiece when she gave off that speech about Touma not taking martial arts/weapons and explained the rationale behind it and why the story is like this. The contrast with Kamisato who's very methodical with his harem and whose harem antics seem forced kinda reinforce it.

My first impression was that Kamisato's harem wasn't fun to read and maybe that's the intended effect.
There is two extremes of good - someone like Ollerus, who does what he feels right for him consequences and everyone else be damned. And someone like Crowley, who look at the big picture. And Touma with Kamisato are mild representations of these ideals.

This Kamisato's harem starts being quite annoying. There was some balance between plot and scenes involving shenanigans of Touma's harem, but now it's pushing it too far.
Also I find Touma's harem and interactions much more enjoyable. It almost seems as if Kamachi made a character and his surrounding out of readers' complaints about Touma.

IB is sealing the IT/Dragons (and possibly the Esper ability), probably at the expense of being able to utilize its full potential (hence Terra's statement that Touma wasn't using IB to its fullest potential and Laura/the Magic Gods saying that IB is incomplete, thus resulting in WR being created).
So, if IB doesn't have to constantly suppress anything it could possibly be used at its full potential.
Which leaves the issue of IT/Dragons. They're sealed for a reason (that we don't know yet). However, the Third Power can also suppress them. So Touma could use the Third Power to suppress IT/Dragons while IB can be used at full power.
Although it could be that the Third Power requires Touma to actively/consciously suppress IT/Dragons, whereas IB does it 'passively' so it's more convenient (which then has the issues of IB being 'incomplete')

The interesting question is if Invisible Thing == DRAGONS.
The fact that both are released when Touma loses his arm seem to work in favor of this theory. Also having two different broken powers sealed in one arm at the same time sounds quite weird.
On the other hand, Crowley didn't act when Dragons were released, opposite to his reckless actions at the end of WW3. However it could be the matter of witness with enough knowledge to realize what IT actually is. Also for some reason IT is obviously invisible while a bunch of Dragons couldn't be any more conspicuous. So unless there is some condition determining the visibility of Dragons, they should be different powers.
Finally, IT and Dragons might be related, but not exactly the same. For example Dragons attack might be just an ability of IT.
As for Touma's esper ability, I have a theory that he's not an esper at all. He's super important because of IB, which he had before he got to AC and the Dragons/IT which he either had before as well, or had implanted in AC. Anyway, making him an esper would be just a waste of time, since a) this power would most likely be level 0 or level 1, b) it would be suppressed by IB anyway. Also an esper ability might interfere with magic-related things.
So since IB makes his esper power undetectable, he could get a placebo treatment or a spoopy present form Crowley and believe that he is a proper esper with his power permanently suppressed by IB.
