The only problem with Straight Outta Compton is that it takes too favorable a view of Dr Dre, not surprising considering he helped pen the screenplay. But it surprisingly does a good job of mostly showing off the central conflict.

That's what this story probably started as. A script that was just inspired by GITS. Then a producer managed to secure the rights to the original and just slapped the name on the script without actually making it fit within the established GITS universe in the slightest.

This wasnt SAC's plot right? I didnt follow it too well when I first watched it a year ago but it was about some genius handicapped dude trying to expose some huge conspiracy between a corporate empire and the Japanese government. Had something to do with some cure for a disease and money. The laughing man had no team or henchmen either. Everything related to him after his public debut was a stand alone complex or someone trying to pull some shit.
Why is it getting so hollywoodized? Why not just adapt a simpler story in the franchise or just do something original slightly based off of GiTS.
