I don't think at first LK was really trying to be spiteful or really put the series down. I'd admit at first the idea seemed really silly myself but that's to be expected for everyone. What I don't like about it is that no one is willing to look past it or give it a chance. The closed minded view and the overabundant of nostalgia is why we got shit like the new Yugioh movie. I like to think even he regrets making that meme.
It's alright to have a favorite series and to judge your own opinion over the others. But don't like that view keep you from enjoying the series or giving the newer stuff a chance. If we only have DM for 777+ episodes, do you know how stupid it would be ?

I just tried out a traditional masked hero deck with no stratos, 1 shadow mist and 1 bubbleman. This deck is dead without being a rank 4 toolbox. hero fusion alone will get you killed by the second turn if you don't already have the set up needed to get rid of back row and have enough change cards in your hand already to inflict 8000 damage. Talk about a total one shot or nothing deck.

XY&Z is good. It has surpassed Arc-V with top tier animation and story telling.

Kaiba is obviously mentally unstable. He had to take care of his brother from when he was 10 years old after his parents were killed and his relatives wasted their inheritance. He had to defend him from bullies and play chess to keep him entertained.
When he got adopted he was forced to study 24/7 for three years until he drove his stepdad to suicide but only then he had to run a billion dollar company while he was only 16.
When he met Yugi, he got mind crushed after BEWD sold him out and killed herself which let Atem beat him and mind crush him to imagine that monsters killed him again and again.
When he tore the same card as revenge and sent Yugi's grandpa to the hospital and challenged Yugi to Death-T he got put in a 6 month long coma where he ended up throwing two people into the ocean, taking several people hostage at gunpoint and threatened to an hero if he jobbed a third time to Yugi.
He's also severely autisic with being so anti-social and the dragon fetish but who can blame him?

Let's assume you attacked me while I have Odd Eyes Rebellion to the field, Wall of Disruption would weaken Sifr by 800 x 4 = 3200. While Odd Eyes rises to 3800 with the inability for you to activate any more cards as the battle continues after the first trap resolve for the second to activate in time.
Now lets assume I went first to set 2 traps, and a fodder monster to help shield myself as I use Swift Scarecrow [Performapal Barrier Balloon will probably be made into this in OCG/TCG] to survive the battle phase.
Now I flip Wall of Disruption first before making Odd eyes Rebellion to kill Hyper Librarian. That leaves Wings of Disruption to freely activate to counteract Sifr while setting up Rebellion to go into town on the remaining 3 monsters.

And now you know why just about anyone with a brain doesn't consider what Reiji did to be cheating at all. At the time that duel aired, some people (mainly Yuyafags) whined about Kali Yuga and what Reiji did, ignoring how stupidly broken Misdirection Wing was for the simple fact it was:

>Skill Drain
>Horn of the Phantom Beast
All in one card, and those first two effects could be used twice: the on-field effect and then banishing it from the graveyard to do Skill Drain + Cold Wave again, in addition to 800 ATK for a monster you control.
Yuya DESERVED to lose for playing such a dumb card. In case people forgot, here is the literal effect:

I just meant that whenever people discuss that duel they always focused on Kali Yuga or the fact Reiji negated a lingering effect, rather than on Yuya's absurd card which has no actual drawbacks since he barely plays cards in his Spell/Trap Zone, and the 2 cards banished from the field would be the Pendulums in the scale (which is an advantage since it means he could reset the scales with new Pendulums).

I'm aware of the ideal that has been put into Yuya. I think he needs a right sense of balance between being true to himself and making both parties enjoy the duel. The back and forth kind of thing you see with Dennis and Sawatari is something that can be applied to Yuya if was willing to adjust his father's dueling to his own style. Rather than being a imperfect intimation.
There can be something quite enjoyable about two clashing souls doing battle with one another, pushing one another to the edge of their skills. Trying to adapt and predict the other while keeping the advantage. The closest to this kind of style I saw was with Sawatari vs Yuya round 2, Sora vs Yuya round 2 and Reiji vs Yuya round 2.
If he can just adjust his dueling to a method like that, I think it'll work for him.

Focus your deck on getting out Buster Dragon and discarding Buster Blader from your deck either through foolish burial or other means. I recommend combining the deck with Gaia Knights as most of them are level 7's who can summon themselves normally. Ignore the other destruction sword cards that aren't the two tuner dragons. Pendulums are probably the only way of consistently summoning BB from the hand without resorting to gimmicky methods. Also the Magician engine is amazing for allowing you to summon 7s from the hand, which BB is. Not to mention access to Tuning Magician+Odd-Eyes/Level 7 Magicians for synchro plays into Buster Dragon.
