Either way, in as realistic of a universe as HxH is trying to occupy it can't be said that anyone can survive Feitan's ability. The armor he gains has it's own oxygen supply because that's what would kill someone even if they could survive the heat (some-fucking-how). If someone even attempted to breath in whatever they used to diffuse oxygen into their "blood" (ants can be weird, idfk) would be seared and destroyed due to the very nature of a structure that would be able to perform that operation in a living being.

Usually you want to avoid powercreep in a story. With the ants, Togashi employed powercreep intentionally, and it sucked the life out of the series. HxH ended with CA. Everything from this point on will exist only for the purpose of milking the fanbase.

HxH was moving in a set, certain direction with interrelated characters (not-girl, troupe, Ging, Hisoka, Gon, Killua, Zoldyck family), until GI. GI was a slight detour (fillerish), and then Togashi pulled the whole story completely off the rails to focus completely and exclusively on Gon and Kite. It was a poor decision in my opinion. CA arc was not at all bad, but it should have been its own story.

I think the rankings are more in regards to how dangerous they are to humanity. Even though Meruem was technically the strongest nen user that could be possible he was still a living organism that could be poison bombed. Meanwhile Nanika can commit mass murder all over the world and is a gas life-form to boot, which would make for a difficult extermination. I seriously doubt there'll be any individual with a powerlevel as high as Meruem again, and the focus on the calamities will be how overall dangerous they are rather than how outright powerful they are.
