Opinions time
First season was mostly mundane, sometimes artsy talking and Shaft things going on in the background. Which was cool for some episodes, but overallLucky-Startier.
Everything after that gets much better, after it finds a groove. Great comedy and relaxation wise. There was some pretty good heartfelt moments too.K-on!tier.
If you're too narrow-minded, you just won't appreciate it.

It really depends on the episode. First episodes of S1 are boring as fuck, but it gets really good after 4 or 5 episodes. S2 alternates between 10/10 and 6/10 episodes, S3 is good in its entirety.

I usually like SoL no matter how slow they are, but I could barely even finish the first season of Hidamari. It was just so boring, everything felt cliché, there were no characters I found interesting/likable and the artstyle was ugly. This is just my opinion though, I know a lot of people love it.

Hidamari Sketch is a gateway anime of the moest kind. It's a cute series, an open canvas of story and characterization that isn't very fast paced by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its slowness by adding in excessive Brutus faggotry and WIDENESS. The normal anon can see this as the miracle it is, and may enjoy it, drink to it or feel relaxed watching it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain shaft.
However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shinbo of its core make it a breeding ground for lewd, perverted underageb& Noris who engage in every kind of lewdness both online and in the real world. The superdeformed characters all trying their hardest to look wide, the stacks, peculiar, colorful Yoshinoya cosplays, the whole living alone and everything about the Hidamari apartments fuels their escapist fantasies, while the lily-party character backgrounds, emphasis on Ume-sensei, and overall happiness of the series make it fit just right with the alcoholic drives of your average anon and his sense of unadulterated love towards his waifu. Exactly the kind of school that makes little kiddies and underageb& students pass the entrance exams right the fuck up.
Hidamari is basically THE series to attract the nicest anime fanbase known to /a/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to watch the fuck out of this show and everyone who is in it, and ensure that new Hidamari threads encourage the widefriends to show their faces here.

Nazuna admittedly isn't very interesting on her own, but the way she kinda inhabits the same role as Yuno does/did (scared, insecure, helpless) leads to some great development in Yuno, and is one of the big reasons I find the later seasons better.

Out of all the slice of life series out there, Hidamari Sketch is one of the best ones out there. It really deserves it's 4 seasons.

The first two seasons of Hidamari are some of the best 4koma adaptations ever made and are quintessential school-life SoLs.
Their slow and meticulous pacing, non-chronological storytelling that emphasizes the day-to-day feeling, and experimental actually-Shinbo direction make them even better than the manga they're based on.
The later seasons are good too, but they're more similar to other conventional school comedy SoLs and much more closely adapt the manga because of different staff.
