I mean, doesn't Rio say exactly that to Kanata when they're together? It's why Rio wants to start building planes, so she can go find a place with life coming back. (of course, once the military gets their hands on aircraft, they'll be able to start up all new kinds of warfare)

Just like the tone of actual ending, keeping optimistic view, I'd like to think the girls somehow would stop something like that in order to keep peace.

It's post-apocalyptic world that isn't ugly and gross, and there is some fukken interesting stuff going on. I went into this show expecting /k/-on, and ended up with a massive lore-boner. I don't understand.
I don't really think I want an S2. A second season is only good when there was something left unsolved, otherwise it could threaten the whole package if it turned out bad. What could really be done?
