Why is everything by Kyoto Animation so overdramatic? Is not even funny, why do people admire it's work. With the exception of Haruhi everything they do is drama for the sake of being drama.
Half their shows are pointless comedies or slice of life. I don't even know what you're smoking.

Was Clannad the one that started up as a fantastic comedy and turned depressing as fuck? I remember laughing hard for the first two eps. It was so good. Should have just kept it a comedy.

Not a big fan of Kyoani, but this is hardly exclusive to them and more of just a Japanse thing in general for the most part. I mean lately I find it's A-1 that has the massively over-dramatic shows but that also has a lot to do with the kinds of things they are choosing to adapt. Also in Japan that's just kind of how they do drama and kind of prefer everything full on overblown "dramatic". It's actually a whole lot worse that way in Japanese Live Action. Like I honestly can't really watch Japanese Live Action stuff as a result with all the overacting, face pulling, screaming and breaking down into tears constantly.
