I didnt read those, but Vagabond was written very well, even the farming arc everyone is angry at was only like 20 chapters long or so, so it was reasonable.

iirc it's story was based on novel Musashi which inturn is based on real life events with some exaggeration.
I wish people were less easily impressed by realism. Not to diss Inoue, he's very skilled, but holding realism on a pedestal really limits your ability to appreciate art.

Well, let's not pinpoint the obvious; Osamu Tezuka is the greatest mangaka ever, and right after him is Takehiko Inoue.
These two mangaka will never be touched. It's an accomplishment to have one very good manga series, but it's a whole new level when a mangaka makes many different good manga series.
