When I finished the series, I didn't ask any questions, I just accepted it and moved on.
First season which was mostly about a dude helping his bitchy closet otaku sister was pretty fun.
Then it turned into haremshit for no reason and I only stuck with it because incest.
Read the last chapter of the LN and the after story.
In reality they fucked a lot and probably stayed together. The anime tries to hide it even more than the LN so it's very obscured. Anime also makes Kirino look like a bitch, in LN you see her thought process a lot

When they are both eating at the dinner table at his new apartment. Koshiro is telling himself that he just has to say no, stop it and he won't ruin her life. That he isn't evil yet and everything can still be okay. And then he touches/kisses her, directly contradicting what he said
Amazing storytelling/dialogue/whatever you want to call it. I wish I saw those type of heavy moments more in anime, ignoring the subject matter.
